    awesome little Lophophora Williamsii.
came very well packed and arrived in perfect condition

  2. Benjamin

Ordered a multi headed peyote and received this 3 headed beauty. It’s absolutely tiny and just about the cutest cactus I’ve ever damn well seen (that size is to be expected btw, peyote is incredibly slow growing unless grafted)
Byron sent info on how to care for it, emailed me to make sure it arrived and contacted royal mail when I told him it didn’t.
Stellar customer service and great cacti, I highly recommend this site and will be using it again should I plan to purchase more cacti.

  3. Dee

Perfect healthy seedlings. Well packaged and promptly dispatched along with plenty of advice on care.

Seedling arrived quickly and was very well packed. Since placing my order I’ve had lots of communcation from Byron, and I’ve gone from a total novice to a somewhat more informed novice before they even arrived.

Superb, can’t fault it! Excellent follow up and continuing care.

  19. Natalie Hall

Absolutely delighted with this gorgeous pair (now named Emrakul and Pudge. Emrakul looks the smaller from the surface, but has a much chunkier root than Pudge). I will definitely be expanding the collection very soon (… and my mother and sister will be doing, they’re both absolutely in love with these cute little nubbins!).
They arrived plump, healthy, fantastic roots, lovingly packaged for the journey, and I am so happy to have sourced someone who clearly loves what he does to buy through. It’s fantastic to be a part of something as special as being the guardian of sacred cacti!

  20. snakelocks

I’m delighted with the two lophophora that I received and with the excellent, helpful and friendly service. I will be back for more!

Byron at cactocereus.co.uk deserves nothing but the best reviews, but what can a customer say other than “great service, despatched promptly and avoiding bank holidays, great items, great prices”? Well, a completely demented customer with too much time on their hands could go that bit too far and write Lophophora based fan fiction, but sack that, this is the story of the first time I watered my Lophs…
Shortly after sending Byron money for allowing me to look at the pictures on his site “onlylophophorafans” (aka “cactocereus.co.uk”), a red van turned up outside my home and a man in a uniform emerged from the driver’s side. He came to the door and rang the doorbell. I opened the door and to my surprise, the man knew my name and after confirmation, he handed me a mysterious cardboard box. My name was on the box, as was my address. How this smartly dressed stranger knew my name and address is beyond me, but I can only summise the man was part of a mystic network of phychic delivery agents, the delivery arm of the wizardy looking people who must be behind these boxes.
I put my box down and continue to go about my day. As the sun went down and the house started settling into its evening routine, the box suddenly started rattling like it was full of jumping beans! Cautiously I opened the box to find four figures, lovingly and carefully wrapped in paper not dissimilar to Andrex like tiny mummies, and a bag of soil from its native land, nestled in a bit of newspaper- was included as a clue to their origin and age? Was it part of a conspiracy involving a proof of life?
Suddenly, the tiny mummies started moving and hopping about, desperately squeeking “let me out! Let me out! I gingerly picked up some scissors, and crouching down so that the packages were at eye level, I carefully cut the tape keeping whoever was inside the mummies trapped and I gently unravel their dressings. Peeping out of each “mummy” there was a small green face, topping a little greenish white carrot shaped body, swathed in strand like appendages which strangely, resembled roots. The first face blinked at me with it’s wrinkly eyes. “Mummy?” it stammered hopefully, doing its best to look cute. Of course my first thoughts were of shock, then distrust, then suspicion, but somehow, something assured me that these little green lifeforms were harmless and nothing to fear, and that indeed I was destined to be their Mummy. Within minutes of opening their tissue paper tombs, the little beings were desperately tugging at the bag of soil with their thin tendril like appendages. I scrabbled around for a suitable container, and carefully placed each in some of the soil, and gradually, using a tiny shovel, I built the soil up to what I decided must be their chins.
I notice that they look pretty thirsty, but just as I was tempted to give them a drink an electronic notification droid made my mobile phone spring to life. A wise man had somehow known about my arrivals, and was passing on the ancient knowledge required for the safekeeping of my new charges. He forewarned the dangers of watering these mythical creatures too soon, and that they may only be watered a week after their appearance, only once a week, and only between May and October OR ELSE! My phone quivering in my hand, I threw the watering can I had prepared to the floor. My green children needed protecting! The evils of too much water, too much sun and not enough drainage posed a credible threat to their existence! It was now my duty to protect them, but how was I to know their purpose was really to protect me?
“We need names” squeeked the wrinkleyest one. My eyes widened. What a responsibility, to name these little mythical beings! I needn’t have worried, they had already been on the internet and decided on their names which I agreed to honour. The wrinkleyest one had decided in Methuselah, he already looked the part and quite fancied living to 969. The one with the heightened self-worth called himself “Matana”, the gift. The big fat one took “Garfat”, a portmanteau he’ll likely regret and change later in life when he “finds” himself. The big dumb one, having already become a bit too codependent on one of the other tenants of the windowsill who was a Bridgesii named Ren (because he was a little prick), allowed Ren to give him the monica of “Stimpy”.
The morning after a prolonged, over elaborate naming ceremony and after party where the police were summoned no less than four times to yell “Calm yer bits”, we were awoken by a chilling scream. Rushing to the door, we could see a crowd forming on the street. There, abandoned in the middle of the road, was a basket of puppies! Alone, cold, frightened, hungry for numnums and in ever so much danger, kids on e-scooters swerved to avoid the precious pups whos plaintiff whimpers echoed between the sound of whirring e-scooter motors, and yet still no one was brave enough to save the precious souls at risk on the median line of the road. “Lophophora, UNITE” barked Methuselah, springing to action the Lophs formed an orderly line, marching on their rooty appendages they pushed their way to the front of the crowd. Even simple Stimpy was now stopping poking himself in the eye-hole with a pencil, and started levitating. A beam of light shot out of his drain-hole, and a ball of energy grew around him. Reaching critical mass, the ball of light exploded, stopping time in its fallout area, while Matana backflipped like a martial arts master to soothe the scared puppies in the road, using his appendages to scratch each pup behind the ear reassuringly. Garfat, his powers now becoming apparent, grew to enormous proportions and rolled to join Matana and the puppies in the centre of the road. Using what turned out to be psychokinetic powers, Methuselah suddenly appeared by their side, and using his thought powers, beamed the basket of puppies into Garfat’s now massive face hole. By now, Stimpy was flagging from the immense effort of pausing time, beads of sweat forming and rolling down his green face, his beam of light starting to faulter, and just as Garfat managed to roll to the pavement, puppies safely in his face-hole, Stimpy collapsed, exhausted from the gargantuan effort of splitting time and matter. “You can water us now” gasped Methuselah, “our substrate is dry”.
Hooray! Yelled the still useless crowd, “The Lophs have saved the puppies!” Just then, a very posh limousine pulls up… who should have seen the whole thing happen from a safe distance but King Charles! “One has some of these little chaps growing in ones private greenhouse” he said. “I have just the thing”, disappearing back into his limo. He re-emerged with a platinum, diamond encrusted watering can. “One always waters them with Evian, but I’m afraid they’ll just have to accept Voss” and that was the story of the first time I watered my Lophs.
    The end.

I have been delighted with every purchase. Seedlings are carefully packed and despatched promptly, with both seeds and seedlings arriving in the best possible condition. I am seeing great germination rates from seeds, and seedlings settling into growing quickly. The quality of his products and Byron’s communication reflect his passion for growing sacred cacti, and to sharing the joy of growing these beautiful plants. I look forward to my next purchase!
    Well deserved,
    Ed

Look at how cute my little lophies are. The bigger one I bought last winter, and it’s still happy, and now I have two more.
They seem happy enough despite living in the South Pennines where is very humid. They live on my windowsill because of the harsh winter. I followed the advice about watering and they seem to thrive on neglect, at least until summer.

Ordered my first Loph and received my order within a couple of days. Byron included a freebie which was so kind of him not many people would do that I really appreciate his kindness and help. The little lophs are settling in their new home. Byrons customer service goes above and beyond expectations I have my next order planned for the New year many thanks.
